Day 1

Arrival in Tanzania

  • Welcome to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
  • Meet your local representative and transfer to Arusha
  • Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
  • Dinner will be hosted and you will be briefed on the adventure that waits.
  • Meals: Dinner & Breakfast

Day 2

Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater – Nainokanoka

  • After breakfast, depart Arusha in your 4x4 safari vehicle and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying scenic landscapes along the way.
  • Upon arrival, descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive.
  • The crater floor, covering approximately 260 sq. km, offers a remarkable mix of ecosystems including a permanent lake, open savannah, and patches of woodland. Surrounded by steep, forested walls rising over 600 meters, it forms a natural amphitheatre teeming with wildlife.
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site on the crater floor, surrounded by stunning scenery and wildlife.
  • In the late afternoon, ascend the crater and continue your journey to Nainokanoka, a traditional Maasai village set within the highlands, where you will experience authentic culture and remote landscapes.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Highlands (Nainokanoka – Olmoti Crater – Bulati)

  • After an early breakfast, begin your hiking adventure from Nainokanoka, a traditional Maasai village located in the beautiful Ngorongoro Highlands.
  • Walk through stunning highland scenery with open grasslands, volcanic landscapes, and gentle forested hills as you make your way toward Olmoti Crater.
  • Along the trail, enjoy wide mountain views, the sound of Maasai cattle bells, and authentic encounters with local herders moving their livestock across the fertile highlands.
  • At an altitude of about 2,500–2,600 metres, the hike is moderate and suitable for travellers with reasonable fitness. It is a rewarding walking experience with no technical climbing required.
  • At Olmoti Crater, enjoy beautiful views across the crater and visit the seasonal Munge Waterfall, which flows toward the famous Ngorongoro Crater.
  • The area is rich in birdlife and natural beauty, making it perfect for nature lovers and photographers.

Day 4

Bulati – Loolmalasin Mountain – Empakai Camp

  • After an early breakfast at Bulati Maasai village (approx. 2,600m), enjoy a short 30-minute walk to the base of mount Loolmalasin, the third highest mountain in Tanzania.
  • Begin your ascent with a guided trek through narrow trails and changing landscapes of rain-fed vegetation and volcanic terrain.
  • The climb takes approximately 6–7 hours ascending, with rewarding panoramic views at the summit of mount Loolmalasin (3,682m).
  • Enjoy a packed lunch at the summit while taking in breathtaking views of the Ngorongor highlands and surrounding rift valley landscapes.
  • After descending (approx. 2 hours), continue your adventure with a scenic trek, run, or bike ride toward Empakai crater area, arriving at camp for dinner and overnight stay.
  • Meals: Dinner, Breakfast & lunch

Day 5

Empakai Crater – Nayobi

  • After breakfast, begin your descent on a narrow forest trail into the spectacular Empakai crater.
  • As you move through the thick rainforest of vines, roots, and ancient strangler figs, glimpses of the emerald-green soda lake appear below—home to flocks of flamingos and rich birdlife.
  • The Empakai crater is a collapsed volcanic caldera standing over 300 meters deep and more than 6 km wide, with a stunning alkaline lake covering much of its floor.
  • From the rim, enjoy panoramic views stretching across the great rift valley, and on clear days even distant peaks such as Mount Kilimanjaro and the active volcano Ol-Doinyo Lengai.
  • Along the trail, encounter rich wildlife including blue monkeys, buffalo, bushbucks, waterbucks,and a variety of colorful bird species.
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch near the lakeshore before ascending back to the crater rim. Continue your trek across highland landscapes toward Naiyobi village, passing Maasai bomas and spotting small antelopes such as dik-dik and Thomson’s gazelles along the way.
  • Walking highlights/experiences:

Day 6

Naiyobi – Chini ya Mlima – Lake Natron

  • After breakfast, begin your final trekking stage from Naiyobi Village, descending into the dramatic semi-arid landscapes of the Great Rift Valley.
  • Follow winding trails across volcanic rock formations and open plains, walking along the north-western base of Ol Doinyo Lengai—the “Mountain of God” and the only active carbonatite volcano in the world.
  • This unique route offers striking views of rugged lava fields and vast Maasai grazing lands.
  • The trek is supported by Maasai guides and donkeys, which assist in carrying luggage, allowing you to fully enjoy the remote wilderness experience.
  • Upon arrival at Chini ya Mlima, meet your safari vehicle and transfer by road (approx. 6 km/1hour) toward the Lake Natron area.
  • Continue to your accommodation, where you can refresh, relax, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this extraordinary volcanic landscape.
  • Trekking Distance: 17 km
  • Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
  • Driving Distance: 6 km / approx. 1 hour
  • Habitat: Semi-arid desert, volcanic terrain

Day 7

Lake Natron – Outdoor Experience

  • Lake Natron is a remote soda lake in northern Tanzania, set beneath Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai and framed by dramatic Rift Valley landscapes. Known for its striking colors, flamingos, waterfalls, and authentic Maasai culture, it offers a truly wild and unspoiled experience.

  • Sunrise flamingo viewing at Lake Natron – Experience the lake at its most beautiful hour, when
  • soft morning light reflects off the mineral-rich waters and flamingos gather along the shoreline.
  • Scenic volcanic landscapes – Enjoy dramatic views of the Rift Valley escarpments and Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai, creating a striking backdrop throughout the morning.
  • Visit to Magadini Village – Explore a traditional Maasai settlement and gain insight into daily life in this remote region.
  • Guided nature walk – Take a gentle walk led by a local guide, learning about native plants, birdlife, and the unique ecology of the Lake Natron area.
  • Maasai cultural experience – Engage with the Maasai community through storytelling, traditional practices, and an introduction to their customs and pastoral lifestyle.

Day 8

Lake Natron – Arusha – Kilimanjaro Airport

  • Following breakfast, depart natron for a scenic drive to Arusha, enjoying views of the northern Tanzanian countryside along the way.
  • If flight time permits, enjoy a hot lunch at Mt Meru Hotel, Thereafter, continue to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight arrangements.
