Bangkok has a very interesting history and those who love listening to forgotten age-old chronicles would find the city's past fascinating. Though there are no proven records of the first settlement of Bangkok, it is believed that the city was founded under the Ayutthaya (Siamese) Kingdom around the 15th century. Centuries-old sites and buildings around the city prove that.

Formed as a tiny trade center, Bangkok played a significant role in the development of Ayutthaya. It became an important part of the Siamese culture in its subsequent years. Due to immense trade and farming, the city, which was then a small village, gained fame across different kingdoms.

Its small village settlement got converted into a town and eventually, into a city. Local Buses

As the bus is one of the best ways of getting around the city, it is used by thousands of tourists every day. Day buses run between 05:00 am and 11:00 pm every day. Bicycle
Getting around on a bicycle isn't common in Bangkok. However, it is surely economical and fun. Hence, it is one of the unique ways to explore the city. Train
You can use Bangkok Subway/Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and BTS Skytrain services to reach your destination within no time. MRT is available every 6 minutes on average at all the major tourist places in Bangkok.

And BTS Skytrain is well connected to areas lying between Sukhumvit and Kasetsart University, Sukhumvit and Kheha and Silom and National Stadium. In short, it is linked to all the major places in Bangkok. It is one of the fastest and convenient means of commuting in the city.

Boats
The widespread and wonderful Chao Phraya River has made it easy for tourists to explore the marvels of Bangkok. Meander your way up the river and witness sheer brilliance confronting your eyes. Use Chao Phraya River Express or local ferry services to catch striking glimpses of Grand Palace, Wat Arun Temple, and Wat Pho Temple. Via Air Route
Bangkok is well connected to all the major cities across the world by air. The city has two international airports namely, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport located at about 32 Km and 24 Km from the city center respectively.

Once you have reached the airport, you can either hire a direct cab to your destination in the city or take the rail link. The airports have good connectivity to Bangkok city via buses too.

Via Rail Route
Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand and that's the reason it has amazing links to all the major cities of the country via rail. Hua Lamphong Railway Station located in the Pathum Wan district of Bangkok is the major railway station. It connects the other parts of Thailand as well as nearby countries, such as Malaysia, Laos, and Cambodia.

From the railway station, you can hire a direct taxi or take the metro to reach your destination.

Via Road Route
Bangkok has a commendable road system. It has three bus terminals that operate to other cities of Thailand as well as neighboring countries. These are as follows:
