Day 1
Airport - Dambulla
Welcome to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival, meet your chauffeur guide and transfer to Dambulla. In the evening, you have an option to go to the Minneriya National Park. The beautiful park covers an area of 8889 hectares that was originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. In 1997, the area was designated as a national park, that is a beautiful forest reservation. The park is situated in the Polonnaruwa district of the North Central province of Sri Lanka. This sprawling preserve has around 160 species of birds, 25 reptile species, 26 fish species and an abundance of butterfly species. It also features a large 3rd-century reservoir and is famous for its elephant gatherings. Over 300 Asian elephants gather during the dry season by the Minneriya Tank. Other wildlife includes the beautiful deers, sambhurs, monkeys, mongoose, leopard, bats, crocodiles, pythons, monitors, and more. The excursion around the wetlands of the park is an exciting tour. Day 2
Dambulla - Nuwara Eliya
After a tasty breakfast, get ready for the village tour of Sri Lanka on a bullock cart. The tour is a traditional experience that gives you a chance to absorb the authenticity of Sri Lanka and understand their village life. The Village Safari also includes a catamaran ride across the lake with beautiful views of local birds and pretty scenes. Feel warmly welcomed in the village house by the locals and enjoy the serenity and calmness inside the house made of clay. Sip on a cooling herbal drink, learn to cook traditional Sri Lankan food and enjoy the hospitality of the villagers. Get served an exceptionally delicious lunch in classic Sri Lankan style. Walk around the green fields, interact with the villagers and understand the simplicity of everyday life here. Have a good time climbing the treehouse, understanding farming of herbs and vegetables and spending time on your own absorbing the local ambiance. Transfer to Nuwara Eliya. En-route, visit the Matale Spice Garden famous for spices and research. Take an educational tour of the garden with excellent information on cultivating and processing spices. Enjoy a cooking demonstration too. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 3
Nuwara Eliya
After a delicious breakfast, go on to explore Nuwara Eliya or 'the city of light`. Here you will find picturesque landscapes, temperate climates, and tea plantations. Ceylon Tea is famous as are the beautiful migratory birds, blue maples, tree ferns and monkeys. The beautiful town is also famous for scenic waterfalls and the finest 18-hole golf courses in South Asia.
Go on to visit the Ramboda Waterfall. This tiered waterfall drops from a height of 109 m and is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. The fall is along the Panna Oya River, a tributary of the Kotmale Oya. It is situated in the Pussellawa area on the A5 national highway. The Ramboda Waterfall is a nice place to cool down and spend some time in the pools in front of the falls. The falls are at an altitude of 945 m above sea level. So enjoy the cool weather and a lovely dip.
Next, enjoy the Nuwara Eliya City Tour and witness the colonial heritage. Go past the quaint English styled red-bricked buildings, stylish golf courses, Hill Club, Race Course and feel part of the esteemed gentry. Find many temples, tea plantations, colorful landscapes with flowers in full bloom, and the beautiful Lake Gregory for a calm boat ride. Overnight stay in the city.
Day 4
Nuwara Eliya - Kandy
After breakfast, transfer to Kandy and see the Buddha Statue carved out of a rock. Visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden, managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture. This beautiful botanical expanse covers 60 hectares with over 4000 different types of plant species, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Stroll along the garden pathway with tall trees of almost 10,000 in number and look out for the renowned Giant Bamboo of Burma. The tree can grow to 40 meters in height with a 10-inch stem diameter. It grows as rapidly as 30 cm a day. Overnight stay in the city.
Day 5
Kandy
After a tasty breakfast, take the Kandy City Tour and visit the Arts and Crafts Center, a Gem Museum and Lapidary. Here you can witness the art of working in stone and creating small objects from gem material. The tour takes you to the Gem Museum/Gem Mining/ Gem Cutting Centres. You also get to witness a cultural dance and explore the local vibes at the town and bazaar. Overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 6
Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight back home.
