Schengen Visa for Europe

A single short-stay visa covering travel across the Schengen area, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland and Austria among others. You apply through the country that is your main destination, or your first point of entry where the trip is evenly split. Applications are document-intensive and travel insurance is generally required.

United Kingdom Visa

The Standard Visitor route covers tourism, business visits and visiting family, with student and work categories handled on enquiry. Applications are made online, followed by a biometric appointment in Nigeria. A Schengen visa does not cover a British stopover or side trip.

United States Visa

The B1 and B2 visitor categories cover business and tourism, with student routes handled separately. The process centres on a personal interview at the embassy or consulate, and appointment waiting times can be long. Preparation for the interview matters as much as the paperwork.

Canada Visa

The Temporary Resident Visa covers visits, with study permits and permanent residence routes assessed separately. Canadian applications place particular weight on demonstrating ties to Nigeria and intention to return, and biometrics are required.

UAE Visa

Tourist visas for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the wider Emirates are generally among the more straightforward applications for Nigerian travellers, and are often arranged more quickly than European or North American visas. Requirements still apply and change periodically.

Other Destinations

Applications for Australia, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, India, Japan, South Korea and others are handled on enquiry. Requirements and processing arrangements vary widely, so it is worth asking early rather than assuming a destination will be simple.

What Are the Passport and Document Requirements?

Requirements vary by destination and by your personal circumstances, but Nigerian applicants are generally asked for a similar core file.

International passport: normally valid for at least six months beyond your intended return date, with blank pages available for the visa.

Proof of employment or business: a letter of introduction from your employer for salaried applicants, or Corporate Affairs Commission registration documents for business owners and the self-employed.

Financial evidence: recent bank statements, typically covering three to six months, along with tax records and evidence of regular income.

Travel itinerary: flight reservations and confirmed accommodation covering the period of the trip.

Travel insurance: required for Schengen applications and for some other destinations.

Photographs: recent, biometric-compliant, and meeting the specification of the destination country, which differs between them.

Completed application form: different for every destination, and the single most common source of avoidable errors.

Consistency across the file matters more than volume. Dates on your itinerary should match the dates on your form, your stated purpose should match your supporting letters, and your financial evidence should explain itself without the consulate having to reconstruct it.
