Madagascar Experience – Andasibe, Palmarium & Lemur Reserves

Day 1

ARRIVAL IN ANTANANARIVO

• Arrive in Antananarivo and transfer to the hotel.
• Overnight at the hotel Belvedere.

Day 2

ANTANANARIVO – ANDASIBE (140 km - about 5- hour drive)

• Drive to Andasibe through a landscape composed by a succession of rice fields, waterfalls, and scarce forest stations.
• On the way visit the Marozevo Exotic Park with lots of Chameleons and some frogs, butterflies etc.
• Continue to Andasibe. Possibility to make a nocturnal visit along the road to spot nocturnal animals.
• Overnight at the hotel Vakona Forest Lodge.

Day 3

Day 03: ANDASIBE – AKANIN’NY NOFY

(132 km about 4-hour drive ,boat trip 1,5 hours)

• After breakfast, visit the reserve and discover the species dwelling inside this forest like Indri Indri, the tallest of all lemur species, bamboo lemurs and brown lemurs.
• Visit the Vakona Reserve for a fun time with tame lemurs.
• Then drive to Manambato by car, then by boat to Akanin'ny Nofy and overnight, for example at the Palmarium hotel.

Day 4

AKANIN’NY NOFY

• In the morning visit the Palmarium Reserve with six species of lemurs, in the afternoon perhaps a visit to a village school and walk in the surroundings, or an optional short boat trip across the lake to see the sea.
• When night falls, go on an excursion in the early evening to try to spot the nocturnal Aye Aye lemurs (Daubentonia madagascariensis).
• Overnight at Palmarium again.

Day 5

AKANIN’NY NOFY - ANTANANARIVO

(about 1,5 h by boat on the canal, then around 272 km 8 h per car)

• Drive by boat back to Manambato, then by car back to Tana, overnight at the hotel Belvedère.
• Optionally, this could be done with less driving, but the tariff will have to be adjusted. (only if the flight Toamasina – Antananarivo will be in the afternoon).

Day 6

ANTANANARIVO – HOME

• Transfer to the Airport for the flight back.
